Axle Configuration

How do 2-, 3- and 4-axle dump semi trailers differ?

The CHENLU models above all unload through the rear of the body. Axle count changes how the loaded trailer shares weight, but it does not set the payload by itself. Body size, material density, axle spacing, tractor and road limits still have to work together.

01 / 2 AXLES

A simpler running-gear layout

A two-axle layout has fewer tyres, brake assemblies and suspension parts. It can suit a shorter body or a load that stays within the permitted tandem-axle limit. Because the tractor carries part of the trailer weight through the fifth wheel, the complete loaded combination still needs to be checked.

02 / 3 AXLES

The middle layout in this range

Three axles share the rear load across a tridem group. CHENLU lists several three-axle rear-tipping models, but the axle count does not make their body volumes or working loads interchangeable. Dense stone or ore may reach the planned cargo weight before the body is full.

03 / 4 AXLES

A different load-distribution choice

A fourth axle spreads the rear load across a longer axle group. It may suit a heavier or longer configuration where local axle rules allow it. The extra axle also adds tyres, brakes and suspension parts, so tare weight, axle spacing, turning space and service requirements change.

04 / REAR TIPPING

The unloading area still matters

Every rear-tipping trailer needs firm, level support and enough space behind and above the body. The tractor and trailer must remain correctly aligned, and the tailgate path must be clear. Adding an axle does not remove these tipping-site requirements.

Choose from the loaded drawing, not from axle count alone. Check the body volume, axle spacing, kingpin position, overall dimensions and raised-body height for the selected CHENLU configuration.

Buyer FAQ

Dump Semi Trailer FAQs

What is the difference between a tipper semi trailer and a dump semi trailer?
In many markets, “tipper” and “dump” are used for the same general trailer type. The models on this page use a rear-tipping, end-dump layout.
Are payload and body volume the same?
No. Payload describes cargo mass, while body volume describes internal capacity. Cargo density matters because a dense material may reach the target weight before the body is full.
How is the axle count selected?
Axle count depends on the target operating weight, cargo distribution, tractor, route and destination requirements. The final axle layout should be confirmed in the quotation and approved drawing.
What site conditions are needed for rear tipping?
Rear tipping requires stable ground, enough overhead clearance and a safe area behind the trailer. The operating procedure must match the approved design and the actual unloading site.
What affects the hydraulic tipping system?
Body size, loaded weight, tipping geometry and discharge conditions must be reviewed together. The final cylinder and hydraulic specifications should be stated in the quotation or configuration drawing.
What information is needed for a configuration proposal?
Send the material, target cargo weight, required body volume, loading method, unloading-site conditions, tractor, destination and quantity.
